Café Buenos Aires: What is Tango? an entertaining and informative tango music and dance performance series. This is event #2 of 4 and is presented by Passion for Tango, a registered nonprofit arts organization dedicated to performance of tango.

Jazz pianist, Robert Mari, and musical and dance friends introduce the controversial neotango and transform The Victoria Event Center into a café that rocks with funk-jazz. “Tango is a complicated musical art from with a history strikingly similar to the history of American jazz” (Bertram Levy of Tangoheart). Jazz musicians improvise with Robert to create a new generation of tango-based music, which has been propelled by the Nuevo dance movement of Buenos Aires youth. It is now an international phenomenon, both the dance and music grew out of rock, techno and Nuevo tango as well as jazz. We ask-is this still tango?
